We covered generating your Jilt DNS records along with some general guidelines in our article Can I send emails from my own domain? Here we'll take a look at adding the SPF and DKIM records to your Google Domains account.

Now, let's start sending your emails with your own domain.

Add the DKIM record

1. Login to your Google Domains account.

2. Click on "My domains" on the left, and then locate your domain, e.g. example.com

3. Click the DNS settings button:

4. Scroll down until you see the section Custom resource records. Enter the following information:

a. Enter the Host value we previously generated from Jilt (see Can I send emails from my own domain?). e.g. 20170720114948pm._domainkey
b. Select "TXT"
c. Enter the TXT Value from Jilt's Email Domains setup page. Enter the value starting with "k=rsa; ..."
d. Click the "Add" button

5. You've successfully added your DKIM record! Continue to the Add the SPF record section below

Add the SPF record

If you are still on the DNS Settings page, we'll continue with the below steps. Otherwise, follow Steps 1-3 from Add the DKIM record to log into your Google Domains account, and then continue with the steps below:

1. From the DNS settings page, scroll down until you see the section Synthetic Records. If you see an entry named "G Suite" there, skip the remaining steps here and continue with section Add SPF Record with G Suite below. Otherwise, continue to step 2 below.

2. From the DNS settings page for your domain scroll down until you see the section Custom resource records. Enter the following information:

a. Select "SPF"
b. Enter your TXT Value generated by Jilt, e.g. v=spf1 include:spf.mtasv.net ~all
c. Finally click the button "Add"

3. Remaining in this Custom resource records section, follow the same procedure as in step 2 above, with one change: for part a. select "TXT" rather than "SPF". Enter the same value from 2.b. above, and click "Add" again:

4. You've successfully configured your SPF Record to allow sending from Jilt! Continue on to the Complete domain verification section below.

Add SPF Record with G Suite

Continued from Add SPF Record - Step 2

1. From the DNS settings page for your domain scroll down until you see the section Custom resource records. Enter the following information:

a. Select "SPF"
b. Enter your TXT Value generated by Jilt. Note that you may need to modify your TXT Value from Jilt slightly to contain include:_spf.google.com. So the final value may look like: "v=spf1 include:spf.mtasv.net include:_spf.google.com ~all" . Paste that into box b as shown below.
c. Finally click the button "Add"

2. Remaining in this Custom resource records section, follow the same procedure as in step 1 above, with one change: for part a. select "TXT" rather than "SPF". Enter the same value from 1.b. above, and click "Add" again:

3. Scroll back up to the Synthetic records section and click the "Edit" button:

4. Click the "arrow" button next to Email:

5. Ensure the box next to "SPF Validation" is unchecked:

6. Click "Save"

7. You've successfully configured your SPF Record to allow sending from both Jilt and your G Suite account! Continue on to the Complete domain verification section below.

Next Steps

Once the DNS has had a chance to propagate (sometimes up to 48 hours), return to Jilt's Email Domain page to complete verification.
